Overnight oats are simple to put together, full of flavor and slow-burning energy, and they make busy mornings go faster! Here’s a great list of my favorite 25 grab-and-go overnight oats recipes.
What do we want?
BREAKFAST!
When do we want it?
YESTERDAY!
Ok no, really, overnight oats are one of the easiest morning time grab-and-go breakfasts a busy mama can keep in her meal prep arsenal.
Overnight oats are simple to throw together, kids love them, and you can eat them while walking out the door.

I tell my kids it’s like eating lumpy ice cream for breakfast. The 3-year-old buys it and the 4-year-old rolls her eyes at me (how is this a thing already? #5goingon15) but the reality is, overnight oats are the tasty bedrock of any busy morning.
Overnight oats are packed with slow-burning energy, meaning they have a better chance of keeping you full till lunch.
Add nuts and milk for protein and sweeteners and seasonings for flavor (and maybe cold brew for your mama brain) and you’ve got yourself a winning breakfast.
You can even make savory overnight oats if you’re not a big fan of the sweets-for-breakfast thing.
Here’s my basic overnight oats ratio, for those who want to make it themselves:
(psst- I have a whole post outlining my favorite types of overnight oats! Read it here)
- 1 cup oats
- 1 cup milk (almond milk is our fave, but regular cow milk is awesome)
- Cinnamon and maple syrup to taste
- Pecans or walnuts
Other than that, go crazy! I also like adding peanut butter (powder, creamy, or chunky), chocolate chips, coconut flakes, raisins, you name it: the toppings aisle is your playground.

I’ve usually made 4 (4days) it’s easier to make them. We are 3 in my family so 12 jars go into the fridge each day different flavor

Yes I love these containers! I find they stack more easily than mason jars, so I prefer them- they’re easier to fit my hand inside to clean too, since they’re not so tall. This is the link for the same on Amazon: https://amzn.to/2RKqeaL

What containers are you using? I’ve used the mason jars before but wondering about Pyrex type containers like on your pictures…
Ruthy Kirwan
Hi Trish! These bowls are from Pyrex; I purchased them at a Meijer store in Michigan. You can find them on Amazon, too- they hold one cup each and perfect for morning oats! Here’s the same size on Amazon, but in blue: https://amzn.to/2RKqeaL

Thank you for the yummy recipes! I can’t wait to try them. Where did you purchase your beautiful glass bowl with the red lids? They look perfect for over night oats. Thank you!

I prepare 5 on Sunday! I use oats, yogurt, milk, honey and use whatever fruit I have. They stay perfectly fresh!
Ruthy Kirwan
I think you could! I haven’t personally tried leaving them for longer than one night. One thing you could try is to mix the grains and seasonings, then just add the liquid the night before.

How long can u leave them in the fridge? Can u make 5 on Sunday night to last the work week?
